Hatching Eggs

Our eggs are handled with care -from collection to personally dropping the package off at the post office. All eggs are carefully inspected for cracks, chips, or any other weaknesses and only the best quality eggs are sent for hatching. We only send eggs that we would hatch in our own incubators. The eggs are never washed only cleaned with a dry cloth if needed.

We check and monitor fertility on our hatching eggs on a regular basis. We are currently seeing a 91% fertility rate. This is determined by selecting and hatching our own eggs. Fertility and hatching rates are two different things. We do not have a guarantee on hatching or take any responsibility for shipping deaths or damage. There is inherent risk when shipping eggs, and all buyers must be aware of this before ordering hatching eggs. Hatching eggs are a gamble and your hatch rate could depend on a number of things such as incubator temp, humidity and handling done by post office.

All eggs are carefully packaged and shipped Priority Mail. We package the eggs the best we can, but cannot guarantee them once they leave our hands at the post office. Again shipping is a risk and all buyers need to be aware of this risk before purchasing eggs from us.

Shipping and Returns

All hatching eggs are shipped USPS Priority mail 2-3 days shipping which includes 50$ insurance should your eggs arrive broken. Packages are shipped on Monday and Tuesday only. This is so they are not sitting at the post office over the weekend. All eggs are fresh and collected the days before the ship date. Shipping available to the lower 48 states only. We will notify you when your order is getting ready to ship and send a tracking number when the shipping label is complete.

- We do not give refunds on hatching eggs, no exceptions.

- We do not guarantee the hatching success of your eggs.

Shipping is always a risk. However, we are committed to getting your hatching eggs to you as soon as we can and as safely as we can. By ordering Hatching Eggs from Silkie Hollow Farm you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to the terms of our hatching egg policy.

For best results allow your eggs to sit at room temperature tip side down for 24hrs. Check air sac before placing in incubator. If air sac still seems unstable incubate for 3-7days without turner.

Ensure your incubator temps are stable, we like to use a govee hydrometer inside our incubator. At lock down humidity should be 65% or greater. The temps we like to use is around 99.5 and humidity around 30-35% for the first 18 days.

Live Chicks and Birds

-Chicks are sold straight run (unsexed) unless explicitly listed otherwise. Straight run does not guarantee an equal number of males and females.

- Any sex estimate will be identified as an estimate unless expressly guaranteed in writing.

- We breed toward the standard of perfection, but cannot guarantee future show results, breeding performance, egg production, or adult appearance.

- Buyers should inspect birds at pickup and raise any concerns before taking them home.

- Buyers are responsible for appropriate transportation, housing, warmth, feed, water, and care after transfer. We cannot guarantee survival or health outcomes affected by conditions outside our control.

- Please contact us promptly about any health concern following purchase.

Payments

- Prices, availability, and any deposit requirements will be confirmed before payment.

- A reservation is confirmed only after we acknowledge it and receive any required deposit.

- Deposit amounts, cancellation terms, and pickup deadlines will be provided before a deposit is collected.

- Pickup is by appointment. Please contact us if you need to reschedule. Missed pickups without communication may result in cancellation of the reservation.

- If Silkie Hollow Farm cannot fulfill an order, buyers may choose a refund for the unavailable items or agree to a replacement or later pickup.

Returns and Biosecurity

- We do not accept the return of eggs or birds once they have left our farm because of biosecurity concerns. There is no refunds for the loss of chicks or birds once they leave our hands. Buyers are responsible to the appropriate care for your new additions.

- Completed sales are final for changes of mind, subject to applicable law and any written guarantee provided with the sale.

- Keep newly purchased birds separate from your existing flock and follow appropriate biosecurity practices.

- Buyers are responsible for checking local poultry rules and any applicable transport or entry requirements before purchasing.

Our Biosecurity Policy

To help protect the health of our flock, all pickups are by appointment only. Upon arrival, please pull in driveway and remain in your vehicle. We will bring your birds or hatching eggs directly to you.

Guests are not permitted to walk around the farm, enter animal areas or view the birds/animalsfor. Please leave pets and other poultry at home when picking up your order.
